Considerations for the Winter Break and Holiday Season:

As we look toward the holiday season and the winter break, we would like to share a consistent message with all of our Owl families: as a school community, we will not be encouraging gift exchanges (e.g., between students or educators), and we want to ensure that our learning environments reflect equity and inclusivity. It is imperative that all students feel valued and possess a positive sense of belonging, and it is our duty to create opportunities and experiences where each and every student feels welcomed. 

We acknowledge that a range of emotions are connected to the winter break, and as a school team we are focusing on the ways in which we can show and express gratitude towards our students, staff, families and community members. During the last week leading into the break there will be a lot of fun and spirit showcased at Oak Creek, and both classroom and schoolwide activities will be centred on feelings of joy, acceptance, love and kindness, as well as the excitement generated by the winter season. We also hope to learn more about the celebrations and traditions that are significant to your child and family.

We look forward to engaging all students in the learning and experiences that will take place over the next few weeks. Please continue to reach out to your child’s educator if you have any questions or concerns.

Supporting Nutrition for Learning at Oak Creek

  • Please consider making a donation to support the Nutrition for Learning program. Last year, Nutrition for Learning provided over 2 million meals to students across Waterloo Region
  • Did you know that Nutrition for Learning Healthy Snack Bins are in every classroom at Oak Creek and accessible to all students?
  • Toonie Cards will be coming home with students on Monday; simply tape a toonie to the card and return it to the school
  • Donations can also be made directly online
