Good morning Oak Creek families,

Thank you for an amazing first day of school yesterday! We hope that your child left school smiling and were able to share many positive moments from their first day.

We have a few reminders to share with caregivers as it relates to pick-up and dismissal:

Caregivers (with children in Grade 1-8) should be waiting on the field at the beginning and end of the day or along the Community Centre fence. It is important that we keep that tarmac clear of congestion to prevent unnecessary risk and ensure student safety. If riding a bike or scooter, please “walk your wheels” until you are off the tarmac.

Caregivers (with children in Kindergarten) are asked to wait behind the pylons after your child has been met by their educator in the morning (i.e., at the edge of the game markings painted on the tarmac). We also ask that you wait behind the pylons at the end of the day; thank you for your patience as you wait until the educator brings your child to you. We wish to avoid having children run out of their lines (as we have two educators managing upwards of 30 students in each class who are still adjusting to school and many new routines). Please also help to coach your child about these expectations at home as well.

During morning drop-off, after your child has been received by their educator, please avoid waiting for classes to go inside (as some classes will begin their day with outdoor learning). The transition to school routine is likely to be more smooth and positive for everyone (most importantly your child) if “hugs and best wishes” for the day are shared before they move into their line. Once your child is with their educator, please begin to make your way off of the tarmac.

Please refer to the start-up message that was shared through School-Day last week and posted to our school website that includes a map of the Arrival and Dismissal Areas. Morning supervision begins at 8:55am, and end of day dismissal finishes at 3:45pm.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. It’s important that we have everyone on board and following the game plan as we strive to serve the best interests of your child together.

Have a great day,

Jeff Johnson,

Principal
