Good afternoon Oak Creek families,

We hope that you and your child have been enjoying the warm and sunny weather these past few days.

We would like to remind all families with children entering Year 1 and Year 2 of Kindergarten at Oak Creek next year that our Welcome to Kindergarten night is taking place on Thursday, June 9th from 6:00-7:00pm at Jean Steckle Public School.

We will begin our event together in the library to welcome families and to introduce our educator team and community partners. In addition to meeting some of our Oak Creek educators and staff members, families will also have the opportunity to connect with representatives from Rising Oaks, Kitchener Public Library, EarlyON, the Community Centre (e.g., Huron Community Association), and also the Settlement Worker team from the YMCA of Three Rivers Immigrant Services.

Following introductions and information sharing in the library, students and families will be invited to the gym to interact with our educator team and engage in various learning activities, such as crown making, patterning, play dough and loose parts, magnetic letters and literacy, movement, as well as music and stories.

We will also learn more about healthy snacks and lunches, and what to bring to school in September.

We are hopeful that our Welcome to Kindergarten bags will arrive in time for the event (unfortunately, WRDSB schools have experienced a delay in receiving these items). We will provide families with an update prior to our event.

Sincerely,

Jeff
